Questions and answers

Solus kicked the fat-bellied skeleton against the wall, suppressing his surprise at the easy victory. He had anticipated a tough fight, but he was faster, stronger, and more durable than his opponent and had finished him within seconds.

"I don't like repeating myself! How do I get to the surface?" Solus looked at his opponent, trying his best to be as menacing as possible.

"..."

Still not getting a reply, Solus's joy at the prospect of getting some answers was slowly replaced by anger. Stepping forward, he gripped the Sigmiton around the neck before lifting him up in the air and forcefully pressing him against the wall. Although his arm was trembling under the weight, Solus was somewhat surprised at his own strength.

"I will ask one last time, and expect an answer. Otherwise, you are only good as a mana orb." Solus increased the pressure, squeezing his hand around the other's throat in an attempt to persuade him to speak.

Solus heard a loud snap as the Sigmiton's neck broke. Startled, he immediately let go, but it was too late, and he was left looking down at the Sigmiton's unmoving form.

"Ah, you overgrown bag of bones! Why didn't you just answer?" Solus lifted his head and roared at the ceiling, his frustration followed by immediate regret. Shouts rang out from one of the nearby passages, and he knew he had made a stupid mistake. Gritting his teeth, he quickly ripped open the Sigmiton's skull and picked through it to find a large, oddly shaped mana orb.

One glance was all he got before he heard shouting from an adjacent tunnel. He turned around and bolted away, picking a random entrance roughly opposite to the shouting. After hunting Sigmitons for such a long time, he had learned his way around the tunnels that surrounded the pit. He had found that the Sigmitons were continually excavating new tunnels, abandoning the old ones as soon as they had salvaged anything of interest.

Sprinting through the near-darkness, Solus kept one of his hands against the walls, counting every tunnel he passed. At three, he slowed down and entered the next one. It was smaller than the others, and he had dug it out himself. He had closed all the pathways to where his hideout was and left only two small entrances. As far as he could tell, these were in the oldest and most abandoned parts of the tunnel system. Listening for nearby enemies, he was happy to realize that they had failed to locate him, and he smiled at their stupidity.

Heading deeper inside, it took him a while to reach the exit, as he had to crouch down as the tunnel became lower, but he didn't mind. He knew it would give him plenty of time to react if someone did happen upon him.

Inside his hideout, Solus walked towards the pit. He usually rested in the dugout cavern surrounding the hole, but he couldn't leave the area yet. He had yet to find a way to get the sphere out.
